Nike Basketball will be paying homage to the Nike Zoom Kobe 1 MPLS colorway that originally debuted in 2006 with their remastered version of the Nike Kobe 1 Protro.
The franchise that would become the Lakers was founded in 1946 as the Detroit Gems and played in the National Basketball League (NBL). The team moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1947, and its name was changed to the Lakers to reflect the Minnesota state nickname, “Land of 10,000 Lakes.”
Having won five championships in Minnesota, Nike Basketball will bringing back the “MPLS” colorway of their updated version of Kobe Bryan’t first signature shoe. This Nike Zoom Kobe 1 Protro will come dressed in a Grey, University Blue and White color scheme.
